NKJV 365 / Whose Money Is It?

NKJV 365 Day Reading Plan

Day 323 of 365

Whose Money Is It?

The truths of scripture should influence our attitude about money. We should not take pride in the money we make, for example, because it all comes from God. In Psalm 50:10 He tells us, "For every beast of the forest is Mine, the cattle on a thousand hills."
We also should avoid giving our devotion to money. So 1 Timothy 6:10 declares, "the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."
Biblical truths about money also should influence our actions. Ultimately, our stewardship-what we do with what God gives us-will reflect whether Christ truly is or is not Lord of our lives. King Jehoash spoke of "all the money that a man purposes in his heart to bring into the house of the LORD" (12:4), speaking of the funds given to the work of the Lord, above and beyond any tithes. Such gifts speak volumes about what lies in the heart that gave them. God wants us to set aside the first part of our paycheck for the work of His kingdom. When we do, we show where our real priorities, and our hearts, lie.
