Draw Near / LITTLE THINGS

LITTLE THINGS

Many years ago, a wise poet observed:
I thought, if defeat came at all,
It would be as a big bold definite joust,
With a cause or a name.
And it came.
I had not thought the daily skirmish
With a few details worthwhile:
And so I turned my back upon them
Year on year; until one day
A million minutes blanketed together,
Rose up and overwhelmed me.

Jesus told a parable about little things that are important to our lives. Talents had been given to men; now judgment day was upon them. Those who had been faithful in everyday business brought earned talents to the master. The one who had ignored daily responsibilities brought nothing. To each of the faithful ones, Jesus said, You were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things.

Only after we have been faithful with what we have, where we are, does God move us into a greater ministry. Joseph had to prove himself first in slavery then in prison before God trusted him with the fate of two major nations. What we do with what we have is vital to our future. Thus, the faithful followers of Christ take care of the little things and sow loving acts of kindness and goodness in their homes, neighborhoods, and on their jobs. They are careful to give the cup of water and to love. These wise ones will have much to give the Master when He returns.

“His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬
