“Thank You” Bible Style: David
NOVEMBER 17, 2018
I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving.
Psalm 69:30
Psalm 69:30
Recommended Reading: Psalm 69:29-36
Can we thank the Lord when things are going badly for us? David did. He opened Psalm 69 saying, “Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck… Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head” (verses 1-4). But the Lord knows the number of hairs on our heads (Matthew 10:30). So David asked God to deliver him out of the mire (verse 14), and he turned his thoughts to God’s goodness. He prayed, “Turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies” (verse 16). And at the end of the Psalm, he poured out his heart in thanksgiving.
If things are going badly for you, tell God how the waters are coming up to your neck. Then remember how much God cares for you, even knowing the number of hairs on your head. Pour out your heart. Then praise His Name with a song and magnify Him with thanksgiving.
And don’t forget the last verse of Psalm 69: “Those who love His name shall dwell in it.”
See what happens when you open your heart afresh to the Lord…where you truly begin to “magnify him with thanksgiving” (Psalm 69:30).
