Regardless of what some fuzzy-minded philosophers say, there is a fixed star in our universe. All things are not relative. In the alphabet, B always follows A; and in simple mathematics, two plus two always equal four. Without rules and principles, life simply could not exist. Can you imagine waking up each morning wondering if the sun will shine? What if the farmer were not assured summer would follow winter, and harvest would come after planting? A capricious world simply would not support life. There must be a system, a set of rules, a fixed star. Without them, life would be impossible.
In the spiritual and moral world, there are set principles as certain as the law of gravity or the law of centrifugal force. These moral laws also make life possible. Without them, each man would be a law unto himself and would live by the code, "survival of the fittest." Within a decade, there would be no life left on our planet.
Man simply cannot break the physical laws of our universe; if he attempts to do so he will only break himself. The same is true of God's moral and spiritual laws, including His norms for marriage. The effect may not be as sudden, but it is just as sure. The Bible says: Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine; the soul who sins shall die (Ezekiel 18:4). Healthy marriages will result, therefore, only if we heed the words of the living God.
“Your eternal word, O Lord, stands firm in heaven.”
Psalms 119:89 NLT
