THE DAY OF DAYS
A quiet Sunday afternoon was shattered with tragic news: Pearl Harbor had been bombed! The date was December 7, 1941. A fleet of enemy planes had stolen in on the unsuspecting island and launched a war that cost over a million lives. The events of that day altered the history of our nation. It was a "day of days" just as 9-11 would be so many years later. On a quiet Judean hillside, some unsuspecting shepherds were also to hear some news that would not only change the history of a nation but also change the complete course of human existence. An angel appeared with a simple message--one of hope and eternal peace: I bring you good tidings of great joy. The events of that day would be remembered forever, for the birth of a child a few miles away would become the pivotal point of history. That day Christ was born.
There is coming an even greater day--the days of all days. We Christians are looking forward to that hour when again quietness will be shattered--this time with a golden trumpet--and our Savior will come again. He will come, not to shepherds on a hillside or to a manger in Bethlehem, but to those who are waiting for Him. This will be the day of all days. May we remember the last words of the Bible: He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen (Revelation 22:20-21).
“The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!”
Luke 2:11 NLT
