Apocalypse Mentality / David Jeremiah

Apocalypse Mentality

And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies.
Philippians 3:20-21, NIV

Last fall, CNN released a survey of ten thousand young adults from ten countries; the survey showed tremendous anxiety in this age group about the future. One respondent said, “Like many others my age, I feel…this ‘apocalypse mentality’ that really burrows itself in my brain and stomach every day. I have trouble envisioning the future beyond a year.”[1]

We have no need to be anxious about the future because the Lord Jesus is in control. Philippians 3 talks about His power and energy—His limitless omnipotence—that enables Him to bring everything under His control.

Everything includes everything—the future, the world forces that seem out of control, the invisible powers in the unseen realm, and the worries and anxieties that are consuming our minds today. Do you have a problem or burden that needs to be under the Lord’s control? Entrust it to Him. He doesn’t want anxiety to burrow itself into your brain or stomach. His power brings confidence, and confidence lifts our spirits.

Incidents and events that make no sense at all now will one day make perfect sense—if not in this life, then in heaven.
