Do You Understand Everything About God? / Adrian Rogers

Do You Understand Everything About God?
John 4:23-24
Sermon: 1971 Give Him Glory, Part 1

Pray Over This

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 4:23-24

Ponder This

When I was a little kid, my daddy sold Buick automobiles for East Coast Motors down in West Palm Beach, Florida. He would leave the house with his briefcase in hand and kiss my mother goodbye before he left for a day of work. I had no earthly idea where he went, what he did, or what he said. But when he would come back home, I would welcome him home. I didn’t have to know what he did or how he did it to know and love him. He was my daddy, I loved him because of who he was to me.

I don’t understand today where God goes when He goes to work—how He flings out the stars and scoops out the oceans and heaps up the mountains and runs this mighty Universe. There are a lot of things about God I don’t know, but that doesn’t bother me. You don’t know either, but the truth is, you don’t have to know all that your Father does for Him to be your Father. Little children can look to Him and say, “Father,” and the Bible teaches that when we are saved, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts crying, “Abba, Father” (Romans 8:15). When you worship, you must worship the right person. Don’t hold back your worship because you don’t understand all the details.

  • What are some questions you have asked God that have held you back from worshiping Him?
  • When is it easy for you to forget God’s role as your unchanging Father?

Practice This

Encourage a friend who feels far from God in his or her faith. Remind him or her of the truth that God is his or her heavenly Father even through the unknowns.
