NIV 365 / God Frees You from Sin

The NIV 365-Day Devotional Reading Plan

Day 183 of 365

God Frees You from Sin

What a glorious promise! God loves us so much that he wanted to make us right with him. Because he is a just God, he could not simply overlook our sin. His justice required that someone pay the penalty for it. And someone did. God sent his only Son as the perfect sacrifice to take the punishment our sins required.
God promises that when we trust in what Jesus did for us, he will take away our sins - no matter who we are or what we have done. No sin is so great that God cannot wipe it away. Because of Jesus' death, God declares us not guilty and sets us free. Of course, we will never be completely without sin until we get to heaven, but in the meantime, God looks at us and sees Christ's righteousness instead of our sin.
Today, declare your independence. God has freed you.

God's Promise to Me

*You are made right in my sight when you trust my Son to take away your sins.
*I declare you not guilty.

My Prayer to God

Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Jesus to declare me "not guilty" by his death on the cross. I trust you, Lord.

Romans 3:22-24 KJV

22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
