NIV 365 / Staying Focused

The NIV 365-Day Devotional Reading Plan

Day 235 of 365

Staying Focused

The secret to being a good bull rider, according to one Montana cowboy, is this: "You've just gotta want to hang on more than the bull wants to throw you off." Jacob could relate. Feeling desperate and overwhelmed, he found himself literally wrestling with God. Sound familiar? Maybe you're troubled with a stressful situation at work, a dispute at church, a conflict within your family. Sometimes you have to put everything else aside and reach out to God. To paraphrase that Montana cowboy: "You've just gotta hang on to God more than your problem wants to pull you away."

REFLECT & PRAY:

*In what situations are you tempted to let go of God? Why?
*Is there someone you know who models persistence?
*How might your willingness to "hang on to God" in tough times be an example to your children?

Genesis 32:26

Genesis 32:26 KJV

26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
