Prayer - A Holy Occupation / Day 8 / by Oswald Chambers

Oswald Chambers: Prayer - A Holy Occupation

Day 8 of 30

It is at first difficult to learn a new and better way of breathing, consequently we are conscious of it for a time, but it is merely consciousness of what will by habit become an unconscious possession. So in the better and new way of breathing spiritually in prayer, we shall be conscious of forming the habit, but it will soon pass into normal spiritual health.

Get to work and seek, narrow your interests to this one thing. Have you ever really sought God, or have you only given a languid cry to Him after a twinge of moral neuralgia?

Reflection Questions: Is prayer as natural to me as breathing? How can I make it less of a conscious act and more of a natural response to God in my life?

16 Rejoice evermore.

17 Pray without ceasing.

18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
