So Be It / Day 6

So Be It

Day 6 of 50

If you look at a detailed model of a car, it helps you see what the real thing is like but on a much more simplified and smaller scale. It is a smaller version of the real thing. If in a chemistry class you study the model of an atom with protons, neutrons and electrons, it helps you discover something greater from what is unseen. The model Jesus gives us in the Lord’s Prayer does both. Though only a few verses, it constructs the details that guide us to experience a larger prayer life. And like the atom, as we enlarge each verse, we find there is more he wants to unveil in those areas of our lives. In the Greek grammar of this text, we find that the way in which we state this prayer is actually the closest we can get to telling God what to do in our lives while still maintaining the utmost respect for Him. We are agreeing with what he already wants for us. God wants to be worshipped. He wants us to join him in his work. He wants to provide, forgive and protect us.

Our Father in heaven, reveal who you are. Set the world right; do what’s best— as above, so below. Keep us alive with three square meals. Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others. Keep us safe from ourselves and the devil. You’re in charge! You can do anything you want! You’re ablaze in beauty! Yes. Yes. Yes. So Be It. (Matthew 6.9-13 MSG) Matthew 6:9-13

Matthew 6:9-13 KJV

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
