Hope - A Holy Promise / Day 7 by Oswald Chambers

Oswald Chambers: Hope - A Holy Promise

Day 7 of 30

When I complain and say, “Why does God allow this?” I am not only useless but dangerous. Telling God what He should do, that men are being lost and that He ought to save them, is a terrific charge against God, it means that He must be asleep. When God gets me to realize that I am being taken up into His enterprises, then I get rest of soul. The great campaign is God’s, not mine.

Prayer is labor, not agony, but labor on the ground of our Lord’s Redemption in simple confidence in Him. Prayer is simple to us because it cost Him so much to make it possible to us. God grant that we may work His victories for Him by taking His way about it.

Reflection Questions: How do my feelings of hopelessness hinder God’s work in my life and in the world? How is my hope diminished because I do not take seriously the work of prayer?

Job 38:31-33 NKJV

31 “Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, Or loose the belt of Orion? 32 Can you bring out Mazzaroth in its season? Or can you guide the Great Bear with its cubs? 33 Do you know the ordinances of the heavens?
