Called to Love / Day 14

Called To Love

Day 14 of 21

Take Heart - Do not worry, He has overcome the world!

As disciples of Jesus living in the 21st century, we constantly need to remind ourselves that we are living in a fallen world. We will have troubles around us. Following Jesus won’t always be easy, and the fruits we bear will be challenged at every step. However, the assurance we have is that ‘Jesus has already overcome the world.’ This promise needs to be etched into our hearts. With this as our confidence, when troubles come our way, we understand that only through Him will we overcome them and experience lasting joy. Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection to life proves that His authority trampled the power of the enemy once and for all (Luke 10:19).

Following Jesus comes at a price, and during the tough times our faith is severely tested. As a disciple of Christ though, we should learn to let go of the worry that this world brings and hand it over to Jesus who gives us peace beyond understanding. Let us take heart knowing He has overcome.

Prayer -
• Forgive me for placing my troubles and worries above your greatness
• Help your people rely on your victory more and more
• Help us remember your promises in every situation and find peace and hope so that you may be glorified

Thanksgiving -
• Thank you, God, for your Word that remains true throughout the ages and on which we can rely on
• Thank you, Holy Spirit, for being within your people, giving us the strength to overcome
• Thank you, Jesus, for your death and resurrection, the ultimate victory that the church now shares in

John 16:25-33 NKJV

25 “These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father.  26 In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you;  27 for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God.  28 I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father.”

29 His disciples said to Him, “See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech! 30 Now we are sure that You know all things, and have no need that anyone should question You. By this we believe that You came forth from God.”

31 Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?  32 Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.  33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Luke 10:19 NKJV

19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
