Called To Love

Day 5 of 21 Knowing & Loving God - Closer than you think One of the most distinctive and attractive characteristics of God is that He, unlike what you may have heard, is not far away and out of reach. In fact, the God who is revealed through Jesus is One who is constantly trying to be as close as possible; closer than you think. In this portion Jesus is saying that those who choose to love Him in obedience will have Jesus living in them! Now, that’s close! So if you really want to see and know God, you just need to love Him through obedience. It makes sense because if we say, “I love you” to someone here on earth, we wouldn’t then go behind their back and in the same breath betray them. No, we would love to please them, sacrifice for them and cooperate with them. In the same way we can love God and know him in such an intimate way. No matter how many times you have failed before, today He is asking you to choose to love Him and know Him. Prayer - • Lord, I love you and I pray you give me the strength to show it in my actions • Reveal yourself in me and help me be one with you Thanksgiving - • Thank you, Jesus, for giving me life eternal even when I was disobedient and oblivious to how much you love me • Thank you that you are willing to draw so close to me and live in me John 14:19-24 John 14:19-24 NKJV 19 “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.  20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.  21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.  24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.
