Called to Love / Day 21

Called To Love

Day 21 of 21

Unity - That the world may believe

The portion ends with Jesus praying, asking the Father to keep His disciples and those who follow Him on this earth united. When we see the dynamics between God the Father and Jesus His Son, we see that they do everything from a united front. There is no disjointed speech, thought, or action. Since we are called His children, we need to be united in everything like our Father.

Most of the time unity suffers due to our insecurities, pride, ego, and other petty things (Matt 16:24). Following Jesus requires us to die to these things on a daily basis, and when we do that, we can experience true unity. When Jesus wanted to establish His church on earth, he desired for us to be united, following His purpose and plans so that we may bring Him glory, showing the world who He is and what He is like. May we in the church live in unity for His glory.

Prayer -
• Please help the church overcome the things that hold it back from unity
• Help me see the part I play in the bigger picture for the bigger cause
• May people know you through the love and unity of your people

Thanksgiving -
• Thank you for including us into the body of Christ, into relationship with you, God
• Thank you, Jesus, for obeying and submitting to the will of the Father so that we may have redemption and grace today John 17:20-26

John 17:20-26 NKJV

20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;  21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.  22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:  23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

24 “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.  25 O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me.  26 And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
