Names of God: Through Thanksgiving & Christmas / Day 12

Names of God: Through Thanksgiving & Christmas

Day 12 of 30

Jesus prepares to depart and yet is reassuring those who will remain that His work will continue on earth. He has witnessed human characteristics, emotions, and flaws, so He knows the predominant response will be fear: fear of being left alone and fear of not being able to complete God's mission on earth. Therefore, Jesus leaves the gifts of the Holy Spirit and of His peace. Throughout this passage, Jesus reassures us with His very Word of the certainty of God's permanent presence with us and in us, as well as the peace that comes from knowing that He will be seated in heaven next to God praying for us.
Will you truly believe that God is with you? Will you fight through the occasional overwhelming feelings of loneliness and worldly chaos while clinging to the knowledge of the Lord's promises? Do you leave peace and the presence of God as gifts to the people that you encounter?
Father God, You are a promise keeper. Help me to trust in You and Your promises above all else. Thank You for imparting Your Holy Spirit. I can't live this life on earth without Him. Lord, when I feel unable to do what You have called me to do, remind me that I have God in me and that He will do what I am incapable of doing. He will do what I am unwilling to do. He will endure when I'm overwhelmed with feelings of inadequacy. Teach me how to yield in obedience and rest in His gift of peace. In Jesus' name. Amen.
John 14:25-27

John 14:25-27 NKJV

25 “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.  27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
