NKJV 365 / The Fount of Love

NKJV 365 Day Reading Plan

Day 46 of 365

The Fount of Love

By actual count, the English word love appears over 250 times in the Old Testament alone. It is first found in Genesis 22:2, where God told Abraham to offer up his son whom he loved as a burnt sacrifice upon Mount Moriah. The final mention of love in the Old Testament is in Malachi 2:11 which speaks of the love of God for His sanctuary. At the same time the concept of love is both the easiest to accept and the most profound to explain. The smallest child can sing, "Jesus loves me, this I know," with fullest confidence, while the most brilliant theologian struggles to comprehend the real message of this song. Love has been defined as the act of one person seeking the highest good for another person. Unselfish concern for another's welfare is a second suggested definition for love. But this we know for sure All the love one has for his neighbor has its source in God.

Leviticus 19:18 NASB
