Day 56 of 365 Putting Words into Action Leviticus, along with the rest of the Law, outlined practical ways for Israel to show its dedication to God and commitment to each other as a covenant community. One of the most important of these practical steps was the sacrificial system. Performing these inconvenient and expensive sacrifices turned words into actions. We too need to follow through on our spoken commitments, even when it comes at a cost. The apostle John declared, "My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him" (1 John 3:18, 19).
