Fellowship is a strange word, made up of “fellow” and “ship.” The first term implies another person; the term “ship” means a state(apprenticeship), rank (lordship), condition (hardship) or skill(penmanship). Fellowship involves the state of being happily related to others in Christ; the rankof being brothers and sisters in the family of God; the condition of harmony that unites us; and the skill of sweet talk and good deeds among us.

Only Christians can lay claim to this kind of fellowship, and the most unique and lasting bonds are found in the Body of Christ. The first believers, inflamed by the Spirit’s indwelling, continued steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching, in fellowship, in breaking bread, and in prayers.

If you’ve been reclusive recently and unwilling to join a small group, a Bible study, or a prayer circle, perhaps it’s time to reconsider your options. Go deeper in your Christian walk and discover the beauty of fellowship.

Some Christians try to go to heaven alone, in solitude. But believers are not compared to bears or lions or other animals that wander alone. Those who belong to Christ are sheep… they love to get together. Sheep go in flocks, and so do God’s people.
Charles H. Spurgeon
