NKJV 365 / The Making of a Priesthood

NKJV 365 Day Reading Plan

Day 94 of 365

The Making of a Priesthood

The sons of Levi were chosen to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of the Lord. They were to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and likewise at evening. In doing this they represented the sons of Israel in the presence of the Lord.
This ritual was a continual reminder to God's people of all that He had done in their behalf and all that He continued to do in causing their land to produce bountiful harvests, protecting them from their enemies, and leading them in a life of righteousness and justice.
We of course do not need the Levites to offer praise and thanks to God for us, for through the sacrifice of Christ we have direct access to the heavenly throne. We have been chosen to serve as a priesthood of believers to offer praise and thanks to His name.
