The Jesus Bible Reading Plan / PROCLAIMING GOD'S MAJESTY

The Jesus Bible Reading Plan

Day 222 of 365

PROCLAIMING GOD'S MAJESTY

Warning labels are helpful - they communicate the right way to handle something that is powerful. Elihu gave Job a word of warning and caution. He told Job the right way to make sense of what had taken place. According to Elihu, God intended to teach Job something through his affliction. Rather than trying to correct the teacher, Job was to remember and magnify God as the maker of all things. God's best for Job did not mean going around a tough season of life, but going through it. God's ways are higher than humanity can understand. They cannot know all the reasons God has for doing what he does. God is majestic in all of his ways. He is holy, high above and so much wiser than humans. And yet, God has come near to people in Jesus. Jesus lived as an ordinary man, and yet with majesty (2Pe 1:16). God has thousands of reasons for doing what he does. If he acts in a way that seems unexplainable, it must be remembered that he is always acting for his glory and in a way that is consistent with his majestic character.
Jesus, thank you for coming near to me. Help me to rejoice in my circumstances, whether pleasant or not, knowing that your purposes will be accomplished. Amen.
