The Jesus Bible Reading Plan / A LIGHT HAS DAWNED

The Jesus Bible Reading Plan

Day 251 of 365

A LIGHT HAS DAWNED

The light Isaiah describes in this passage is Jesus, the One who would bring salvation to the people of the world when he came to earth. Isaiah even specifically identified the region of Galilee as the place where the light would come, which was the place Jesus spent a majority of his time teaching and ministering (Mt 4:13 - 16). In verse 2, Isaiah shifts into the past tense, demonstrating the certainty of his prophecy, indicating that what was to happen in the future was as sure to happen as if it had already occurred. God would bring light to a people in darkness, and they would see that light dawning and bringing joy to their lives. Jesus fulfilled Isaiah's prophecy; he is the light of the world (Jn 8:12), and no one who trusts Jesus for salvation has to walk in the darkness of unforgiven sin ever again.
Jesus, I was in darkness, and you brought light into my life, changing the way I see everything. Please make your light shine through me so others may see it. Amen.

Isaiah 9:1-2 NASB
