NKJV 365 / Singing of Praise Is to Be Continual, PRAISE AND WORSHIP

NKJV 365 Day Reading Plan

Day 322 of 365

Singing of Praise Is to Be Continual, PRAISE AND WORSHIP.

The word "praise" here (Hebrew tehillah) refers to a hymn of praise, or the singing spontaneous praise to God (see Ps. 40:3), as with the NT call to sing and make "melody in your heart to the Lord" (Eph. 5:19). When the heart is full of praise, it will find expression-songs and words being spoken, overflowing from our mouths (Matt. 12:34). We are always to sing praise (see Ps. 35:28); and this psalm elaborates the theme verses (1-7) giving this instruction: 1) Sing to prompt others to do the same (vv. 2, 3, 8-14); 2) sing as a transforming remedy for fear, bringing boldness (vv. 4, 5, 15, 16); and 3) sing as an exercise of faith, invoking deliverance (vv. 6, 7, 17-22).
