The Jesus Bible Reading Plan / JESUS IS OUR ETERNAL BANNER OF LOVE

The Jesus Bible Reading Plan

Day 319 of 365

JESUS IS OUR ETERNAL BANNER OF LOVE

King Solomon's banquet hall was a place of splendor, utilized for occasions of great joy. It was furnished with the finest things so that celebrations were extravagant and luxurious. The woman looked forward to joining the king there, aware that the privilege of being in such a place happened only because she was with him. His bannerover her is a symbol of the permanence of his commitment to his beloved. More than just association, she was chosen - claimed not by force but with love.
When Jesus completed his mission on earth, he ascended to the Father to prepare a place for his bride, the church (Jn 14:2 - 3). Men and women in Christ are chosen and claimed by love. They are saved by grace - a priceless gift from God (Eph 2:8 - 9). Their future in the extravagance of heaven is established and guaranteed because they belong to the King. At life's end, those who believe in Jesus will enjoy an everlasting banquet. They will delight in the pleasures of heaven - the greatest of these is the presence of the One who is love (1Jn 4:8).
Jesus, I want to live under the banner of your love. I want everyone to know that I belong to you and you alone. Amen.

Song of Solomon 2:4 NASB

4 "He has brought me to his banquet hall, And his banner over me is love.

John 14:2-3 NASB

2 In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.  3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.

Ephesians 2:8-9 NASB

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

1 John 4:8 NASB

8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
