To the Church That Supports Me by David Jeremiah

TODAY'S TURNING POINT WITH DR. DAVID JEREMIAH

To the Church That Supports Me

So, when [Peter] had considered this, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying.
Acts 12:12
Being “born again” (John 3:1-8) runs parallel to the doctrine of the family of God. Every Christian is born twice: first physically, born into an earthly family; then spiritually, born into the family of God. Ideally, one’s earthly family is also part of the family of God—but this is not always the case.
Recommended Reading: Acts 4:32-35
For the better part of His earthly ministry, Jesus’ family had serious doubts about Him; they thought He was quite out of His mind (Mark 3:21). In that context, Jesus made a telling remark about family: “For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother” (Matthew 12:50). In other words, the Church is our ultimate family. Peter understood that when, upon his miraculous release from jail, he found the whole Jerusalem church had been gathered in prayer for him. The Church—God’s forever family now on earth—deserves a shout-out from all its members!
Have you made your local church your spiritual family? That means time, involvement, service, giving, praying—everything earthly families do, and more.

The dignity of serving God is second only to the dignity of belonging to His family.
