To People Who are There for Me by David Jeremiah

TODAY'S TURNING POINT WITH DR. DAVID JEREMIAH

To People Who are There for Me

November 25, 2017
And when [Barnabas] had found [Saul], he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people.
Acts 11:26
The Internet has expanded the definition of tribe. Whereas tribe historically had geographical as well as cultural implications, today geography has been superseded by the Internet. Today one can be part of a tribe—an affinity group with cultural, social, or other ties—that is linked digitally rather than constrained geographically. Tribes provide identity, support, education, and social links not available outside the tribe.
Recommended Reading: Acts 14:26-28
In that sense, the Body of Christ is a giant tribe. But to gain the social and spiritual benefits, tribes need to be smaller—a church, family, or other close-knit group. The apostle Paul’s (Saul’s) tribe was the church at Antioch. They sent him out on his first missionary journey and it was to them he returned. The people in our tribe deserve a shout-out. They miss us, welcome us, encourage us, correct us, and mature us as we grow.
What is your tribe? Let them know how much you appreciate them being there for you. Give them a shout-out soon.
The faintest whisper of support and encouragement uttered by a Christian in the ears of his fellow believer is heard in heaven.
