A Man for All Ages by David Jeremiah

Tuesday, December 26
A Man for All Ages

For my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all peoples.
Luke 2:30-31

UNICEF estimates that 353,000 babies are born each day—just over four babies each second. Birth begins a life of 70-100 years, impacting those whose lives overlap with the child’s. Every generation relates most profoundly with those who share their time in history. Jesus is the exception to that statement.

The day after Christmas reminds us of a question often asked: Why was Jesus born when He was? Why not sooner or later? The apostle Paul wrote that Jesus was born in “the fullness of the time” (Galatians 4:4), which speaks to God’s purposes. But from a human perspective, Jesus’ birth and life on earth were not confined only to His own generation. The elderly Simeon declared that Jesus appeared “before the face of all peoples” (Luke 2:31)—old people like himself as well as the very young. Because Jesus is the eternal Son of God, He is alive for every generation following His own. Whatever our age or season or condition of life, Jesus is as ready and able to reveal Himself to us as He was in the first century.

This Christmas, have you welcomed Him into your heart? There is no time like the present to embrace the eternal Son of God.

Time is nothing to God.
Oswald Chambers
