Swept Away: Shopping by David Jeremiah

TODAY'S TURNING POINT WITH DR. DAVID JEREMIAH

Swept Away: Shopping

December 2, 2017
Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
2 Corinthians 9:15
A few people have finished their holiday shopping, but most of us are being swept away by the stress of completing our list. Christmas shopping can leave us frazzled—and for some head over heels in debt. Perhaps these four facts will help you.
Recommended Reading: Ephesians 2:8-9
(1) No one wants you to go into debt for them. Think of how terrible your loved ones would feel if they knew it took months for you to pay off your credit card after buying gifts for them.
(2) Thoughtful is better than expensive. A good book, a homemade treat, or a lovely photograph is more personal than the boxes of goods stacked at department stores.
(3) Wrap each gift in prayer. People need prayer more than paraphernalia. Tell them you paused while wrapping their gift to pray for them and their needs.

(4) There’s only one perfect gift. The world’s first Christmas gift was its best—a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and placed in a manger. If you could spend a million dollars on Christmas this year, you could never do better than that. So relax, ask God to give you shopping wisdom, and praise Him for the best gift of all.
