Draw Near / THE ONE WHO BRINGS

THE ONE WHO BRINGS

Men often are measured by their ability to move the masses; the Churchill's, the Lincoln's, the Roosevelt's, the Ghandi's, the Hitler's, and the Stalin's could do this. Others, however, change the course of history through gentle influence. Andrew was such a man.

Everybody remembers Andrew's brother. Some consider Andrew's only significance to be the fact that he was related to Peter. God's Word, however, gives this quiet disciple a special place, noting that he was always bringing someone to Jesus. First, he brought his brother. Peter probably never would have sought the Lord by himself, but Andrew brought him and Peter was saved. Peter became one of the greatest forces in the early church. Next, the Bible records that Andrew brought to Jesus the boy with the little lunch. While the other disciples were fretting because there was no food, Andrew found the lad with the loaves and brought him to his Lord. Finally, Andrew brought the Greeks to Jesus just before the crucifixion. In that last week of our Lord's life, Andrew was still seeking people for the Savior. What a dynamic believer--one who brings people to Christ!

Maybe not much will be remembered about us in the annals of history. Our names may never rank with those who move the masses. But our lives will be significant if we move the ones, the twos, and the threes to come to the Savior we love. As Andrew had a special place in the heart of our Lord, we can, too, by bringing men and women to Him. Note that Andrew began with his family. That is always a good place to start.

“He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:41-42‬ ‭KJV‬‬
