Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
Romans 8:5
Sexual harassment cases have ruined a Who’s Who of reputations in the past few months, and much of the blame falls on our pornographic culture. Writing in the Los Angeles Times, Zac Crippen points out that behind the harassment problem is a pornography crisis, which has fostered a sexually aggressive society. “Nobody is talking about what could be one of the most effective ways to attack the problem: Recognizing that pornography consumption is a public health crisis,” Crippen said.
Like most addictions, pornographic habits are difficult to control, and it requires great effort to keep one’s mind and habits free from immorality. But we possess a powerful weapon in God’s Word—the Sword of the Spirit. Scripture offers protection against the lust of the flesh. We must set our minds on the things of the Spirit, and nothing helps more than Bible study and Scripture memorization.
Do you need a healing verse to memorize today? Try Romans 8:6: “The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace” (NIV).
