January 23 / Seeds of Spring

Planting and Tending Your Garden

SEED OF TRUTH

Read Ephesians 3:1-6.
“For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles- if indeed you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace which was given to me for you; that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief. By referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit; to be specific, that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel,”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:1-6‬ ‭NASB‬‬

Who does Paul say he is? According to verse 2, what has he been given? And for whom? What does Paul say about us in verse 6?

PLANT THE SEED
Quietly recite today's focus verse to yourself. Hide it in your heart and meditate on it throughout the day.

Ephesians 3:1
"For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner for Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles."

WATER THE SEED
First Corinthians 6:19-20 tells us that we, too, have been chosen for a purpose: "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." We may not be in prison literally, but we are bondservants of Christ Jesus (Romans 6:15-23). As you go about your day today meditating on the scripture above, continue to keep your "flesh" in chains and the Spirit free to do its will. Remember the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

BEAR THE FRUIT
Bondservant of Jesus Christ.

CLOSE IN PRAYER
Ask the Lord to bring to life all that has been planted in your heart today.
