Pray Against the Forces of Darkness By Franklin Graham There are spiritual forces of wickedness and darkness at work in our nation. They work to deceive and destroy in any capacity they can, whether in the life of an individual, a community or a country. Describing the fall of Satan from Heaven, the Apostle John wrote: “And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world” (Revelation 12:9, ESV). The Bible says that when the devil is thrown into the pit for a thousand years after Christ’s glorious Second Coming, the angel of the Lord will seal it shut so he “might not deceive the nations any longer”(Revelation 20:3, ESV). Until that time, the most effective and powerful thing we can do is pray. “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16, NKJV). Pray for our president, for wisdom and guidance in the days to come. Pray for both the Democratic and Republican parties, that they will put aside their animosity and partisan politics for the sake of the unity of our great nation. Pray that the hostility will cease, and that peacemakers from both sides of the aisle will provide the courageous leadership so desperately needed. Today’s Prayer Dear God, we pray for our great nation. Please bring revival to America and transform the hearts of men and women so that they turn to You in faith and repentance. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
