2020–A Nation on the Brink By Franklin Graham The year 2020 could mark a defining, watershed year in the long and storied history of our great nation. Will we continue to protect the freedoms of Christians to live and abide by their Biblical convictions? Will pastors be able to proclaim and preach the uncompromising Word of God without their messages being labeled as hate speech? I believe we are perched on a sheer moral precipice. A recent Pew Research report showed a dramatic decline in the number of Americans who identify as Christian—from 78% in 2007 to 65% in 2018–2019. When a culture rejects the truth and authority of the Word of God, then it has rejected none other than God Himself. True freedom comes when we live by the standard of Scripture, not by our own ill-defined standards. Psalm 19:7–10 assures us that the Word of the Lord is perfect, sure, right, and pure.   “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold.”
