Stars in Heaven by David Jeremiah

Stars in Heaven

And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake. … Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.
Daniel 12:2-3

Along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Hollywood, California, is the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. More than 2,500 large stars are embedded in the sidewalks containing the names of “stars” in the entertainment industry. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce administers the Walk of Fame, choosing two dozen new additions each year. Entertainers who have been nominated must meet certain criteria, and if selected, must pay a $40,000 fee.

Certainly, stars embedded in concrete will keep the memories of those entertainers alive—but not forever. In fact, most people who are considered stars in their day are forgotten as time marches on. But those who live for Christ will be remembered forever and “shine … like the stars forever and ever.” It’s one thing to be a star in the eyes of the world, and another to be a star in the eyes of God.

You may think your service for Christ goes unnoticed. But it is not overlooked by God. He will remember your work for Him forever.

Holiness is its own reward.
