WHERE THE LIGHT SHINES / Draw Near Bible App

WHERE THE LIGHT SHINES

A father and his young son were traveling though a dense forest late one night. They had only a flashlight, and the night sounds frightened the boy. "Let's turn back," the boy begged. "The light shines only a little ways in front of us." "No," replied the father, "we will walk as far as we can see. As we proceed, the light will go before us."

This is the same type of faith Eliezer displayed when seeking direction for his task (Genesis 24:10-28). Abraham, old and bent with years, sent Eliezer to find a suitable wife for Isaac. She had to be a special girl filled with faith in the God he served. Therefore, this choice was a critical one. Knowing the importance of the task, Eliezer wisely stopped to pray before making a decision. God honored his pleas and brought the right mate for young Isaac to him.

We also are wise if we seek direction from God in all the decisions of our lives. We may not be able to see far into the future but, as we pray, God lights enough of our path for us to proceed. Then, when we have traveled that distance, He continues to shed light on our next steps. With such assurance, we proceed unafraid of the darkness of this earth. Christ is our light and gives us direction.

“He said, “O LORD, the God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today, and show lovingkindness to my master Abraham.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭24:12‬ ‭NASB‬‬
