God Is Shining on You The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen. 2 Corinthians 13:14 The earliest archaeological discovery of God’s covenant name—Yahweh—was found on two silver amulets near Jerusalem. Amulets were small pieces of jewelry, typically thought to be protective of evil or harm. What did the amulets have inscribed on them? The “Aaronic blessing” found in Numbers 6:24-26, in which God’s name, Yahweh—“the Lord”—occurs three times.

The blessing is well known to church-goers as it is often used as a benediction: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” It is perhaps the most beautiful benediction known to Jews and Christians alike. Paul gives a New Testament equivalent in 2 Corinthians 13:14. It’s not hard to see why amulets would have the Aaronic blessing inscribed on them. What harm could come to one who is so cared for by Yahweh? God is blessing you and making His face shine upon you at this very moment, and giving you peace. Walk in His blessing today.
