August 24 / NKJV 365

The apostles had a very interesting reaction to the threats breathed against them by the authorities who objected to their witness for Christ. We’d probably pray, “Lord, deliver us! Protect us and bring their threats to nothing.” But that’s not how they prayed at all. Instead, they said to God, “Lord, You’ve heard their threats. So have we. So make us even bolder as we tell others about You.” They asked for the blessing of boldness, not the security of safety. Their primary concern was to get the word out about Jesus. Maybe that’s why they were so successful at it!

“And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and grant that Your bond-servants may speak Your word with all confidence,”
