Wisdom from the Psalms / September 11

 Psalms 113:5

Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high.

The entire campus was caught up in the Supreme Light movement. Two men claimed to be privy to special insights, and they had developed an amazing following in a very short time. Kevin couldn't believe so many of his friends had bought into it so completely. As far as he could see, neither one of the men had that much to give. All they preached was instant gratification and total forgiveness for all sin, whether repented or not. For Kevin's money, Jesus Christ would suffice. Long after these two jokers were gone, Christ would still be around. New ideologies pop up all the time, but none offer as much as Christ offers. There was absolutely nothing to be gained by settling for less than Jesus. Nothing to gain, but everything to lose.

Prayer: Lord, I hear of new answers to life's problems all the time, and some are quite tempting. Help me to remember that I have all the answer I need in You. Amen.
