Who am I?” This is a bedrock question that every believer needs to answer daily.
You see … the culture tells me I’m just another brick in the wall; the biologist tells me that I’m DNA; the evolutionist tells me that I’m an ascending animal; the boss tells me I’m replaceable; the government tells me that I’m a taxpayer and medical liability; the mirror tells me I’m older; the law tells me that I’m a sinner; the bank tells me that I’m a breadwinner; my father calls me son; my wife calls me sweetheart and my kids call me Daddy … but every day I need to turn my heart toward heaven and be reminded of who I really am.
I am a child of the One and Only, Almighty God – creator of the universe and lover of my soul. I am the purposed creation of the ultimate craftsman. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I am here for God’s good pleasure. I am alive in the flesh – this outer shell, but I am also alive in the Spirit. I am a sojourner in this world – a citizen of heaven.
I am owned by God; loved by God; filled with His Spirit; guided by His hand; used for His purpose and crowned with His glory!
“More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith,”
Philippians 3:8-9 NASB1995
