Hope for Today / February 8

What do you do when your manageable conflict becomes a raging crisis? What do you do when you are suddenly surrounded and outnumbered? What do you do when you don’t know what to do?

Some people panic, others resign, still others resort to desperate schemes – wasting their energies while impending doom hangs like a dark cloud. King Jehosophat found himself in an impossible situation. Human ingenuity couldn’t save him; armed warriors couldn’t defend him; his allies couldn’t reinforce him; and his creativity failed him. Here is a man at the end of the road: “We have no power … we don’t know what to do.” Rather than succumb to fear, Jehosophat made a great proclamation of faith: “But our eyes are upon You.” While others might have focused on the strategic positioning of the enemy, or the organization of the local militia, Jehosophat focused on God.

When hope is fading, turn your eyes to heaven. Fix your eyes on Jesus, the redeemer of every hopeless cause, and trust Him absolutely. When He is entrusted … we are protected.

“O our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You.””

‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭20‬:‭12‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
