Do You Have “Me-ology” or Theology?
Sermon: 2201 You Are a Gifted Child, Part 2
Pray Over This
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.”
Ponder This
There was a lady who took a first aid course. Later she said, “I am so glad I took my course in first aid. Out in front of my house, there was a terrible car accident. An old man, driving a car, went up the curb and hit an oak tree. He was thrown out of the car. When I got there this man was in terrible condition, and the scene was gruesome. It was horrible!” Then she said, “I remembered my first aid. I remembered if I would put my head between my knees I wouldn’t faint.” That’s the kind of theology that many have today, which is really “me-ology.” Many people are only thinking about themselves.
Your spiritual gift is given to profit the entire body. We are to, as the hymn says, “Rescue the perishing, care for the dying, weep o’er the erring one, lift up the fallen, tell them of Jesus the mighty to save.” That’s why you have a spiritual gift. The gift is designed so that you might be a blessing to your entire church. God wants you to be a blessing to your church and make the church a blessing to your community and your community a blessing to the world.
- When have you sought to use your gifts purely for your own benefit? Why is this easy to do?
- How have you seen someone else use his or her spiritual gifts to bless the Body of Christ?
Practice This
Encourage someone you know to use his or her spiritual gifts to bless the Body of Christ. Tell that person how he or she has impacted your life through obedience to Jesus.
