God Is Faithful / David Jeremiah

God Is Faithful

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23

When was the last time you went to bed at night and thought, “I wonder if the sun will rise in the morning?” To put it more accurately, “I wonder if the earth will stop spinning on its axis overnight?” You probably have never had any doubt about the sun and planets’ faithfulness to make their appointed rounds.

Recommended Reading:

The prophet Jeremiah connected the stability of the universe to the faithfulness of God. Just as the sun rises every morning, so are God’s compassion and mercy “new every morning.” It’s not as if God turns off His mercy and compassion overnight and turns them on again in the morning. What Jeremiah meant was, God’s mercy and compassion never cease because God is faithful. His words are fulfilled; He keeps His promises; His blessings remain (Numbers 23:19-20).

Here’s the question: If God keeps the universe running on time, can we not trust Him to be faithful in the details of our life? Yes, we can! God’s words, promises, and blessings—along with His compassion and mercy—are new for us every morning.

He’s been faithful, faithful to me. Looking back, His love and mercy I see.
