Oswald Chambers: Joy - Strength In The Lord |
Day 13 of 30Solomon had everything a man could have in life, he had every means of satisfying himself; he tried the beastly line, the sublime line, the aesthetic line, the intellectual line but, he says, you cannot find your lasting joy in any of them. Joy is only to be found in your relationship to God while you live on this earth, the earth you came from and the earth you return to. Dust is the finest element in man, because in it the glory of God is to be manifested. What God created is a satisfaction to God, but until we come to know Him there is a great deal in His creation we shrug our shoulders over. Once we come to understand God we are as delighted with His creation as He is Himself. A child enjoys what God created, everything is wonderful to him. Reflection Questions: What more do I think I need to attain joy? What does it mean to delight in God’s creation? Why do I consider dust a curse rather than a blessing?
