Prayer - A Holy Occupation by Oswald Chambers

Oswald Chambers: Prayer - A Holy Occupation

Day 28 of 30

Every time we pray, our horizon is altered, our attitude to things is altered, not sometimes but every time, and the amazing thing is that we don’t pray more. Prayer is a complete emancipation, it keeps us on the spiritual plane. When you are at one with another mind there is a telepathic influence all the time, and when born from above the communion is between God and yourself.

Specific times and places and communion with God go together. It is by no haphazard chance that in every age men have risen early to pray.

Reflection Questions: How has my mind been altered by prayer? What thoughts have come to my mind during prayer that might never have occurred to me if I hadn’t taken time to pray?

Quotations taken from The Place of Help and He Shall Glorify Me, © Discovery House Publishers Psalms 5:1-3

Psalms 5:1-3 KJV

1 Give ear to my words, O Lord , consider my meditation.

2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.

3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord ; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
