Galloping Gertie   He gave him the plans of all that the Spirit had put in his mind. 1 Chronicles 28:12, NIV    The Tacoma Narrows Bridge opened with great fanfare over Puget Sound near Seattle on July 1, 1940. Its designer, Leon Moisseiff, called it the “most beautiful bridge in the world.” But not when the wind blew. The bridge swayed so badly local motorists called it “Galloping Gertie.” The entire structure collapsed four months after it opened, and the collapse was caught on film. Watching the bridge lurch and weave in the wind before disintegrating is enough to produce nightmares, though thankfully everyone got off the bridge in time—except for a dog.[1]
