“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, watching the evil and the good. A soothing tongue is a tree of life, but perversion in it crushes the spirit. Better is a little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and turmoil with it. A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but the slow to anger calms a dispute. The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things. The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous. The fear of the Lord is the instruction for wisdom, and before honor comes humility.”
Proverbs 15:1, 3-4, 16, 18, 28-29, 33
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:4-8, 13, 19
